[FIRST NAME GOES HERE], use these tips and tricks to make crafting easier!

Hey Reader!

Happy Friday! Have any fun plans for the weekend? Hopefully, your week has been quieter than mine.

We had our roof replaced yesterday. I was shocked that it needed to be replaced, as we had it replaced just eight short years ago. Unfortunately, harsh weather events this year have taken a toll on it. But enough about the weather. ๐Ÿ˜€

Today, I'd like to share a few crafting tips and tricks I have learned. Hopefully, one of these will help make crafting easier and more fun!

Crafting Tips and Tricks

  1. When you first start crafting, material costs can quickly add up. White cardstock and copy paper can be your best friends. Use these as inexpensive stand-ins until you feel you have mastered the craft. Your wallet will be thankful.
    โ€‹
  2. When using crafting materials for the first time, run a test cut and document the cut settings that work best. This will reduce material waste and lower your overall material costs. To keep track, grab a copy of my Cut Settings Guide from the Makers Corner Crafts Resource Library.
    โ€‹
  3. Rotate your cutting mats. Cricut cutting mats can quickly show wear and tear. You can extend the life of your Cricut cutting mats by turning/rotating them 180 degrees for each cut. You can also move cuts to different parts of the cutting mat in Cricut Design Space during the mat preparation steps.
    โ€‹
  4. Keep your mats clean. Use a small amount of Dawn dish detergent and water and gently scrub the mat with paper towels or a soft dish brush. Rinse and let air dry. Your mats will be fresh and sticky again!
    โ€‹
  5. Use Oracal adhesive vinyl and Siser Easyweed heat transfer vinyl to save money on materials. These industry-standard brands can be purchased at many online retailers and are typically less expensive than Cricut brand materials. My favorite online retailers are Expressions Vinyl and Happy Crafters. They have fantastic prices and quick shipping!
    โ€‹
  6. Have you ever looked at a piece of vinyl and wondered whether it's adhesive or heat transfer vinyl? I know that I have. Turn the vinyl over and look at the back. Is the backing clear or white? Typically, heat transfer vinyl has a clear backing, and adhesive vinyl has a white backing. Of course, there's always the exception, as some brands have a white backing on yellow HTV.
